Rationale/Reflection

InTASC Standard: Standard #10: Leadership and Collaboration

The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession (InTASC, 2013).

 

Brief Description of Evidence: 

   During the summer semester of 2019 as a part of my SPED 230- Informal and Formal Assessments for Mild Disabilities and SPED 240- Culturally Appropriate Practice, I had the opportunity to create a collaboration plan. In the collaboration plan, I was able to research the Family and Community Engagement Standards to create a collaboration plan that will help the students to achieve their goals. In the collaboration plan, I was able to create opportunities for families and teachers to develop trusting and collaborative relationships.In the collaboration plan, I included information such as the purpose, the parties involved, and the assessments that are included in the collaboration plan. I also included information about how I will meet the standards for the learners, families, and colleagues, which helped to ensure learner growth. 

 

Analysis of What I Learned:

   Through the collaboration plan, I learned about the importance of working together with the learners, families, and colleagues to provide a learning environment that will help the students to achieve their goals. I learned that it is important to include Universal Design for Learning in my classroom, which will create a learning environment that can accommodate individual learning differences. I learned that it is important to seek leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning. I also learned that it is important to be respectful of other people’s culture while collaborating with the learners, families, and colleagues. Through this experience, I have learned how to use Lev Vygotsky’s Social Learning theory to create a learning environment that maximizes the learner’s ability to interact with each other through discussion, collaboration, and feedback.

 

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC Standard:

   I have demonstrated my competence of Standard 10- Leadership and Collaboration by creating a collaboration plan. Through the collaboration plan, I was able to collaborate with the learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to create a collaboration plan that helps the learners to achieve their goals. Through the collaboration plan, I was able to seek appropriate leadership roles and opportunities, which will help to take responsibility for student learning.By ensuring that I will be able to collaborate with the learners, families, and colleagues, I can ensure learner growth, which will help to advance the profession.
