By pursuing a career in Special Education, I plan to provide a learning environment that not only helps the students to learn, but also achieve their goals. I think that the purpose of inclusive education is to help the students learn to their best ability.
In my classroom, I want students to be able to express themselves through expression and creativity. I want the students to develop individual strengths, while being in a classroom with other students their own age. I want my classroom to help the students to be a part of their community and develop a sense of belonging and become better prepared for life in the community as children and adults.
All children have certain needs that must be met in order for them to grow and learn to their best ability, including unique instructional methods, materials, and learning aids. I will meet these needs by supplying instructions based on the student’s needs. I will also supply learning aids depending on the student’s needs, such as written materials, charts, and diagrams. As a teacher, you should be patient and understanding of each students needs and not only help them to grow as a student, but also as a person.
